It's a common said thing that certain niches sell very well.
Once word gets out about a certain niche that seems to be working great for a few people, lots of other webmasters jump on the train and start promoting
it as well, often without getting any proper results.
How come a certain niche works for webmaster A. and doesn't for webmaster B.?
The answer is often quite simple. Webmaster A. might have a very good feel for the niche and the crowd he/she caters to whereas webmaster B. just wants
to make some money off a niche he/she doesn't really understand.
What? Wait! Is there such thing as understanding a niche?!?!?!?
I tend to think of it when I watch out of my window across the street. There's a car repair shop there and the owner is getting great business. At least,
I see dozens of people walking in and out over there every day, so I guess he's making money. I know nothing about repairing automobiles, I couldn't even
refresh the oil of my own car for that matter.
So even though the guy across the street is making money off repairing cars, it would've been useless to me
to start my own repair shop. Maybe I'd see a few unlucky customers, but they would be so unhappy with the crap I'd be pulling they'd be gone with an eye
blink. :-) But that's okay. Everybody his own. He would probably be a lousy webmaster. :-)
So yes. There is a thing called "understanding" a niche. More commonly with micro-niches, it's important to understand what makes the crowd who loves it
tick.
It is very possible to dive into a niche and learn what makes the people in to it buy memberships, even if you don't have any personal association with
said niche yourself, just as I could spend a few years on a course where I would learn how to repair cars. But as you can guess, this takes quite a bit
of dedication and time.
It's always good to do these kind of things with certain niches, even if you don't have a personal bound with it whatsoever, but you also would like to
make some money now. Still people keep plugging a niche they think would do well, hoping to make a sale here or there, while the actual solution for
earning some money right now is often closer to hand than people seem to see.
I have a question for you: What turns YOU on?
Everybody has a certain thing for something special. It might be a real fetish, like hairy women or feet, or it might be as simple as being turned on by
big breasts or muscular guys.
In any case, get off that train to try to promote what does well for others, and think by yourself what you really like and why you like it so much.
You are not alone. The things that really turn you on, turns on others aswell. So why not take the information you already have and use that today to
make money?
